Muskie, the fish of 10,000 casts. When a fish is this difficult to locate and even more difficult to trick into biting you're best to make note of what works and what doesn't. Despite having less than 12 days on the water targeting them this season 5 were boated, 6 more hooked but lost, and a couple dozen that showed themselves but had no interest.
Early Summer
Bucktails (Double 9s)
The opening of muskie season had fish already into early summer patterns. Despite having some follows, hits, and catches on swimbaits & crankbaits the bucktails were by far the most productive bait for getting fish to move and triggering them to bite.
Fall
Big Swimbaits
Big rubber is a staple for muskie in the fall. The slow moving baits didn't come into play this season as the faster moving swimbaits (Shadzilla by WaterWolf & Poseidon by Chaos Tackle) put two in the boat and hooked two more.
