Ontario has the largest concentrations of water bodies on the face of the planet! To take advantage of all this land has to offer you need to get access to a boat. Much like driving a car driving a boat is an activity that requires a license in Ontario. Unlike driving a car the boating license does not expire and can be obtained online! After completing the online exam you will obtain a pleasure craft operator card (PCOC) which enables you to drive motor powered watercraft in Ontario & across the rest of Canada.
It is quick and easy to obtain your boating license. Ontario & Canadian boaters can obtain their boating license online in as little as a few hours! The cost of obtaining a boating license varies by source but is only around the $30 mark per person.
"All operators of motorized recreational vessels, including personal watercraft (PWCs), motorized sailboats, and small boats with electric trolling motors, are required to obtain a PCOC (boating license) or other proof of competency. The PCOC must be carried on board the boat at all times during operation. Photocopies are not accepted. Operators who are caught boating without the card will face a fine of $250."
In addition to needing a boating license Ontario boaters are restricted to what watercraft may be operated based on age and supervision level. Unlike in the United States or for vehicles in Canada Ontario boaters are not required to have or carry insurance in Canada.
